Patrik and Göran are in Czech Republic with
PS Engineering to drive the fifth round in the
IRC series. The rally is a difficult asphalt rally
with most of the stages in the forest. The difficult
part of the rally is the slippery roads.
This will be the first time for Patrik on slippery
asphalt:
- "We have only tested on dry asphalt in
our previous tests, so I don´t have any
settings for this," "We simply have
to find the right settings on the opening stages
", says Patrik.
It was not the wet surface that started the roller
coaster ride for Patrik and Göran in the
results list. Misfortune arrived in several ways.
In the opening super special Friday night the
generator broke, the windscreen steamed up and
they lost the sight and ended up in 13th place.
In the first service on Saturday they were forced
to replace the generator that broke yesterday,
unfortunately they were late out of service and
got a 10 second penalty.
In the two first stages they advanced up to seventh
place in the result list. Then they got problems
in SS4, the car only had three cylinders. They
could not fix the problem before the fifth stage
and lost time. They fell true the result list
to 15th place.
At the following two stages, they managed to fix
part of the problem and climbed up to ninth place
with just one stage to go.
- "On the last stage we had a puncture and
lost time" says a disappointed Patrik.
After Saturdays stages they are in 15th
place, with six remaining stages tomorrow.
- "There's not much to say. It has really
been like riding a roller coaster" says Patrik.
"We had a lot of bad luck; I am also unexperienced
on this wet asphalt so tomorrow will be training
for me. I will take the opportunity to learn the
car properly and find the perfect settings",
says Patrik.
Juho Hänninen leads rally with Jan Kopecky
in second and Andreas Mikkelsen in third place.
