Swedish victory in P-WRC. Patrik Flodin won a
close battle in the PWRC event in Spain.
Patrik and his co-driver Göran has done a
very strong run in the Spanish event an event
that has been extremely challenging. Patrik is
not specialized on tarmac so this victory feels
great.
-"Finally" Patrik laugh's "We have
had a so many mishaps this season. So it feels
just fantastic to be able to be here and get a
win again!"
The plan was to get as much as possible ahead
on friday on the gravel stages.
-" I thought that if we should have a chance
here we had to really get ahead on friday. But
unfortunately we got some issues with the engine
with miss fires and only to cylinders running
late on friday" Patrik tells us.
So before the two days with tarmac stages only,
they were in the lead with just more than half
a minute.
-" I was really not sure that it would be
enough" Patrik explains.
But they were able to keep the chasing Michal
Kosciuszko behind.
He was able to get really close a bit to close
to feel comfortable and before the the second
last stage the it was only 3,2 seconds between
the two and the n Patrik got a flat tire in the
end of the stage.
-" I thought that we were smoked " says
Patrik " Luckily we had made a really fast
run before the flat tire and only lost 0,9 seconds
to Michal Kosciuszko".
Before the last stage they were in the lead with
2,3 seconds. When they passed the finnish line
they had to wait for Michal to come in before
they knew if they won or not. Michal won the stage
but only with 0,3 seconds and that gave Patrik
the victory with a margin of two seconds.
-" I am really so happy right now. To win
a tarmac event feels huge. I have so much more
to learn but know I have a tarmac victory in the
baggage" Patrik laughs.
Next P-WRC event will be the last event for the
season in England november 11-13th
