Patrik second on rough roads in China - Shangdong Rally

Patrik is participating in the Chinese Championship together with the Chinese Hongyun Honghe Rally Team. This weekend Patrik´s co-driver Göran Bersten was unable to attend. Instead Morgan Olsson took place in the right chair. Morgan is Patriks first co-driver so the rally became a bit of a nostalgic trip on the 558 km of Chinese roads were the rally was run.

The rally contained 13 specialstages. On Friday the first and only stage for the day was a superspecial run on gravel witch Patrik won. Saturday did not start out well for the crew.
- “ On the first stage of the day we had a flat tire and had to run on it for 7 km on the second stage we damaged a pipe to the intercooler and had to run the rest of the day with no power in the car” Patrik concludes the day.

That made the come in 4th on saturday something that they were not too happy about. On the stage on Saturday they finally got the suspension working on the bumpy concrete roads and with that they could start to push.
- “This is the hardest rally I have ever driven” says Patrik “ it is so bumpy so you can´t imagine”

So for Sunday Patrik and Morgan was full of hope. Mark Higgins in the lead was punished with 29 penalty minutes for entering a time control to early and after that tried to reverse out of it.

Then Patik overtook Chadong after gaining more than a minute on him. That made Patrik and Morgan to climb up to second.
- ”We got the suspension working today the car was a lot faster. We won tree out of five stages and we finished second.” Says Patrik. “ what started as a nightmare got a really happy ending anyway” he laughs.

David Higgins won the rally, Patrik came in second and Liu Cadong came in third. The second Swedish team starting was Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson but they retired on the second stage of the rally.
