Yesterday and today the second last round in
the Russian championship has been run. Patrik
and his stand in co-driver Håkan Palm had
no problems co-operating they tog stage wins after
stage wins as long as the tires held up. They
were fast but it was not enough for a win, since
they did get not less then three flat tires
- Really I don´t understand why we
got the last two says Patrik frustrated.-
the first one on the first stage I buy because
we were going out first and it was big rocks on
the road. The other two is just a mystery. We
got them even thue we changed the suspension and
changed the pressure in the tires for todays stages
everything to make sure not to have any more flat
tires.
When they came to the last stage they were third
but when Andrew Truhkin in second lost almost
four minutes it looked really good. Anyhow the
last flat tire came on the last stage for Patrik
and with that he lost the important second place
and finished third.
- I needed that second place to still be
in the fight about the championship title . Now
the chance is gone. Even if I win the next round
and Andrew Zhigunov retire, he will still have
one more point in total explains Patrik
It has been a year with a lot of flat tires in
this Championship for Patrik and they have all
been in the beginning of the stages so he had
to stop and change in order not to damage the
car.
- Honestly it feels really bad at the moment.
It is a give and take situation I guess. Last
year we run the whole Championship without any
flat this year we have had I don´t know
how many. So you can say last year we took the
title this year we gave it away here in Russia.
Well we have two more Championships to win this
year so now we focuse on them. Says Patrik and
sounds a bit more optimistic.
