Summary Rally Finland day one

It has not been easy for Patrik Flodin and his Co-driver Göran Bergsten in the P-WRC rally event in Finland.

The Rally started yesterday with a short superstage but today was the real first day of the rally with ten stages to be covered.

The start of the event has been a nightmare for the team. They are aiming for victory but Rally Finland is one of the fastest rallies in the world and the Mitsubishi EVO has an advantage.
- "We have a little less engine power then the Mitsubishi so when the stages are really fast we can’t keep up but when it gets slower and more technical we do have a chance to regain some if everything is working” says Patrik.

Unluckily everything has not been going the right way. On the fifth stage a shaft in the gearbox broke but it was service right after the stage and the crew manage to change the broken parts in less than 18 minutes. And Patrik could continue. Eight stage in the middle the right front shock absorber broke strait off. This was bad they had to continue the rest of the day more or less on tree weels.
-“We had to run four stages with the broken shock absorber and lost many valuable seconds on every stage” Patrik says.

Despite everything they are still on second place when the day ended.
-“I am really happy” Patrik laughs “We are running the whole championship so for us every point counts”

Tomorrow the last eight stages are to be run and at 6 PM we all will know how Rally Finland ended.
